Der Mittelpunkt des Ganzen ist der sympathische, charismatische Bodega-Besitzer Usnavi (Anthony Ramos), der jeden Cent aus dem Alltragstrott spart, während er hofft, träumt und von einem besseren Leben singt. In „In the Heights“ verschmelzen Lin-Manuel Mirandas bewegende Musik und Texte mit Regisseur Jon M. Chus lebendigem und authentischem Auge fürs Geschichtenerzählen, um eine Welt einzufangen, die wie keine andere ist, aber universell in ihrer Erfahrung.
