Im Tal der vier Dinosaurier-Kinder Ducky, Petrie, Littlefoot und Sarah wird das Wasser knapp. Alle Dinos müssen um die letzten Vorräte kämpfen und die Pflanzen, die ihnen als Nahrung dienen, verschwinden auch langsam. Die Älteren stellen Pläne auf und überlegen, wie man erneut an Wasser kommen könnte, die vier Kleinen machen sich auf die Suche und finden den Grund des Wassermangels: Ein Vulkanausbruch blockiert die Quelle.
