Das Football-Team der 'Texas State Armadillos' ist nach einem Korruptions-Skandal am Ende. Trainer Ed Gennero wird eingesetzt, um eine komplett neue Mannschaft aufzubauen. Für die Position des Quaterback hat Gennero Paul Blake auserkoren. Der ehemalige High-School-Star ist inzwischen 34 und spielt auf einem ganz anderen Feld: dem Familienbauernhof. Blake hat noch immer das Zeug zum Star. Aber wird er mit einem Team punkten können, das aus einem Samurai-Lineman, einem Schmierfinger-Receiver und einem samoanischen Strongman besteht, der nur Augen für die Placekickerin hat?
