Libby Parsons’ Leben wird völlig auf den Kopf gestellt, als ihr Ehemann Nick bei einem romantischen Segeltörn über Bord geht und sie wegen Mordes verhaftet wird. Als sie zu sechs Jahren Gefängnis verurteilt wird, bittet sie ihre beste Freundin, ihren kleinen Sohn zu adoptieren. Die willigt ein, doch die neue Mutter verschwindet mit ihrem neuen Kind nach San Francisco. Mit Hilfe von Knastfreundinnen findet Libby heraus, dass Nick noch lebt.
